  • DECaF provides a professional atmosphere for members of industry to meet and recruit UCSD’s talented undergraduate and graduate engineering students.
  • The Jacobs School of Engineering has been consistently ranked 11th nationally by U.S. News & World Report.
  • All five engineering programs are ranked in the top 20 nationwide. Most notably, UCSD’s Department of Bioengineering is ranked 2nd in the country.
  • The DECaF committee works closely with all 16 engineering student societies at UCSD to organize and advertise this event. There are 5,300 undergraduate and graduate engineering students at the Jacob’s School, making up approximately one-fourth of the campus population.

  • You may send your displays beginning February 4, 2008. They must be received by February 15, 2008.
  • Any company materials that we receive in advance will be delivered to your table before the start of the career fair.
  • If you would prefer to bring your materials with you the day of DECaF, bring them with you to the Regents parking lot (Reserved for DECaF Recruiters), and a shuttle will bring you and your materials to the Price Center Ballroom.
  • When DECaF ends, if you would like your display materials to be shipped back to you, you must include a completed, prepaid return shipping label.


DECaF Event Schedule for Friday, February 20, 2009:
8:00 a.m. -9:30 a.m.
Park, check in, and set up your display materials. Any display materials shipped in advance will be at your table when you arrive. A continental breakfast will be served during this time.

9:30 a.m.

Career Fair begins!

11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Lunch delivered to your table.

2:00 p.m.

Career Fair ends.



Recruiter/ Volunteer Mixer: Take a break after the career fair with the DECaF volunteers who helped organize this event! This will be your chance to recruit and mingle with the top student leaders of the Jacobs School in a casual environment. Enjoy refreshments, music, and a relaxing ambiance. Prior RSVP is required.

Student volunteers will escort recruiters to the Faculty Club at 2:20pm. Afterwards, students will escort recruiters back to the Price Center Ballrooms where shuttles will be ready to transport the recruiters back to Regents Lots P705.

  • Shuttles will be transporting recruiters and their materials from the Regents Lot to PC Ballroom. Shuttles will run every 5-7 min. from 7:30 am – 9:30 am and again from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm

Research Expo:
Research Expo 2008 will be held Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering. This annual event, now in its 27th year, is designed to provide an inside look into research at the Jacobs School, while fostering interaction among industry, alumni, and Jacobs School faculty and graduate students.

Research Expo features research results displays by M.S. and Ph.D. students, technical breakout sessions led by Jacobs School faculty, and a luncheon where industry engineers, venture capitalists and technology leaders are seated with faculty and students who share their technical interests.

Recruiters can double their visibility on campus by attending Research Expo on February 21, and the engineering student organized Disciplines of Engineering Career Fair (DECaF) on Friday, February 22.
