Join the Junkyard Derby Committee

If you want to have a hand in planning the Derby this year come join the Junkyard Derby Committee! The Junkyard Derby Committee is a sub-committee of TESC FORCE. Meetings this quarter are on Wednesdays at 6PM in EBU1 4515. If you get involved, here are some of the things you can look forward to participating in:

• Advertising, Graphic Design, and T-Shirts!
  • We're creating a new logo for the Derby! So if you're interested in graphic design (aka. you like playing with Photoshop) come be on the Derby Committee
  • We'll be developing an advertising campaign (think awesome movie ad campaigns that start out vague and lead up to the final event)
  • We'll also be designing T-shirts so a slogan is needed as well as the new logo and some creative design work.
• Sponsorship (work on those professional skills!)
  • You'll be able to learn how to talk to local businesses, like Chipotle and Starbucks, in a low stress, casual environment. It's a great way to learn how to write sponsorship letters and work on your professional speaking skills. It's also a great transition into the DECaF committee if that would interest you in the future.
• Logistics
  • You can help plan the actual Derby event. This includes planning out where everything will go, determining how many teams will be involved, and basically make the event work. This allows you to have a direct effect on one of the most beloved traditions at UCSD!

Volunteer

The Derby wouldn't be possible without its volunteers! You can volunteer during any of build days and the day of the Derby.

Why should you volunteer? For all the free stuff of course! As a volunteer you get:

• Free T-shirts
• Free food
• You can cut in line at all the BBQs
• A volunteer raffle with an awesome prize (we're working on it)
• The chance to have a power trip at one of UCSD's most beloved traditions!
