Enspire is a student-run outreach event designed to introduce middle school students to university-level engineering. Although students are often exposed to science and math, they rarely encounter engineering and may not understand what it means to be an engineer. This has led to a decreased number of engineers graduating in the US, while the number of engineers overseas is increasing. Soon, the US will face a major shortage of American engineers. Enspire is an effort to reduce this shortage by increasing the awareness of engineering in San Diego youths. On Wednesday, February 17th, approximately 400 students will be shown around labs and introduced to engineering through hands-on projects. The students will also participate and compete in a design competition inside the Price Center Ballroom. The students will be on-campus from 8:00am - 1:30pm.

The Disciplines of Engineering Career Fair (DECaF), established in 1998, is the only annual student-managed multidisciplinary career fair at the University of California, San Diego. This event provides company representatives a unique opportunity to interact and engage with UCSD's talented engineering students regarding career options, internships, and permanent or summer employment opportunities.
DECaF is coordinated by the Triton Engineering Student Council and the 23 pre-professional engineering student organizations of the Jacobs School of Engineering. These engineering societies, representing the spectrum of disciplines at the Jacobs School, work in close collaboration to maximize the attendance of UCSD's 5,000 undergraduate/graduate student engineers and to ensure the satisfaction of recruiters and students alike.
For more info, visit the DECaF Website.
