Enspire

Wednesday, February 18
9:30am - 1:30pm

Enspire is a student-run outreach event designed to introduce middle school students to university-level engineering. Although students are often exposed to science and math, they rarely encounter engineering and may not understand what it means to be an engineer. This has led to a decreased number of engineers graduating in the US, while the number of engineers overseas is increasing. Soon, the US will face a major shortage of American engineers. Enspire is an effort to reduce this shortage by increasing the awareness of engineering in San Diego youths. On Wednesday, February 18th, approximately 400 students will be shown around labs and introduced to engineering through hands-on projects. The students will also participate and compete in a design competition inside the Price Center Ballroom. The students will be on-campus from 9:30am - 1:30pm.
